plan a christmas party

1. Choose a date

The first thing to do when you plan a Christmas Party is to choose a date! You’ll want to pick a date when most people are going to be free. Additionally, you’ll want to choose the date and let people know reasonably far in advance, as people tend to get very booked up during the festive season! Try and go for a Friday or Saturday night when people will be done with work for the week and ready for a party!

2. Choose a location

When selecting a location for your Holiday Party, make sure it’s central enough for all of your friends and family to get to. In addition, when choosing a location, venue is everything. You need to make sure that your venue has the capacity to hold the number of people you’re inviting. Furthermore, make sure you’re asking the important questions. Do they provide decorations or can you bring your own? How long can you hire it for? What’s the maximum capacity? Does it come with a caterer or can you provide your own food? Any question you can think of, make sure you ask it!

3. Finalise your guest list

Once you know when and where your Christmas Event is going to be, it’s time to finalise your guest list! When you plan a Christmas Party, the guest list is the most essential part! You’ll want to think about how many people you can invite and who you want there. Is it going to be an intimate affair with only close friends and family? Or is it going to be a huge bash where you invite everyone you know! The choice is down to you.

4. Select a theme

Themes are essential when planning a Festive Event. Are you looking for a Winter Wonderland theme? Or perhaps a Gingerbread House theme? It could even be a black tie event! Whatever theme you’re going for, make sure you let your guests know well in advance so they can plan their outfits! Whilst we’re mentioning it, don’t forget to plan your outfit too!

5. Order decorations

Decorations are what make a Christmas Party. If you’re going for a Winter Wonderland theme, some fake snow and ice can go a long way, as well as some blue lighting! Furthermore, if you’re organising the decorations yourself, there are plenty of budget friendly options on Amazon!

6. Decide on activities

If you’re planning a big Christmas Party, then activities are a really good idea! Did you know that we have a Tipsy Christmas Cocktail Masterclass that comes to your venue? What could be a better addition to your Holiday Event than a cocktail class! Alternatively, if you’d like to get all your guests mingling, why not organise Office Mind Games Christmas Special! Have your guests compete in teams in a series of fun games and challenges to emerge victorious!

7. Plan some games

Now that you’ve got your activities in place, why not plan some fun games as well! These could be anything, ranging from a Christmas Bingo to Best Dressed competition! This can be anything you make it, so make sure you plan something good to keep your guests entertained! Or if you really want to go all out, you could even set up a Photobooth area full of Festive props for all of your guests to enjoy!

8. Choose the food & drink

Here you want to make sure you’ve taken everyone into account. Do you have any vegan or gluten free guests? Or is there anyone attended who has any allergies? If you’re not too sure, make sure you ask everyone before selecting your food and drink options! You’ll want to make sure that you’ve catered for everyone. After all, you wouldn’t want one of your guests to have turned up and not be able to eat anything! Furthermore, in addition to cocktails and other alcoholic options, make sure you also provide some soft drinks, or maybe even some mocktails. After all, not everyone will necessarily want to have a drink!

9. Send the invitations

Now that you’ve got everything in place, it’s time to send the invitations! If you really want to go the extra mile, you can design them yourself or order some fun invitations for your guests rather than creating a Facebook event or sending round a group text! Although this isn’t exactly necessary, it’s a nice touch!

10. Enjoy your Christmas Party!

Now that all the hard work is done, it’s time to relax and enjoy your Christmas Party! Grab a drink and some food and have a chat with your guests! After all, you’ve earnt it!
