Barcelona FC are one of the biggest and well-known sports teams in the world, they have players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The date is Friday 29th July 2016 and Barcelona FC are set to fly to Dublin the next day to play Celtic in the International Champions Cup. Barcelona FC have been training at England’s St George’s Park base and were finishing their second training session of the day when the players were told that there will be an additional optional training session later that evening at 6 pm.
Earlier that week on Monday 25th July 2016 the Red Cactus Events office receives a call from Eduardo Rubio Higueras who is Head of Academy Coaching for MK Dons FC. He is looking to organise a Bubble Football event for a good friend for this Friday, at St George’s Park. This is not an unusual request for us as we have hosted a few events here however Edu asked that we must enter the facility without being seen!
When questioned why, Edu simply explained that if we were seen the event would be cancelled, we agreed and asked no further questions.
On Wednesday 27th July 2016 Edu called back, the Bubble Football event was going ahead but with a new request – if the press found out what was going on the event would be cancelled. He also announced this event was a surprise for a good friend, intrigued we asked who this friend was but were told we would find out on the day.
The day of the event came around, our event team had arrived on site at St George’s Park, they had managed to evade the horde of press located in the reception area and managed to set the Zorb Suits up in secrecy by 16:30 which was 90 minutes before the event was due to start.
At this point the Red Cactus Events Office receives another call from Edu, he announces that his good friend is Luis Enrique and the current manager of Barcelona FC.
The guys on the ground have been told that Luis Enrique is the friend of Edu, the training session is optional and the Barcelona training team are expecting a handful of reserves and maybe a few first-team players to attend. To their amazement, the first two players that came out for training were Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez followed by the majority of the first team squad.
