Valentine Day is the most romantic day of the year for some and the worst day of the year for others! According to research, more than a million people will get engaged on Valentines Day. Jewellery retailer Diamond Heaven conducted a survey of more than 2000 adults which showed that one fifth of people who are either married or currently engaged, were proposed to on Valentines Day.

If you are in a relationship but not quite at the proposal stage, there are plenty of things you can do to keep the romance alive.

What do people find romantic on Valentines Day?

There are really simple things you can do on Valentines Day that don’t require too much effort but show that you care.

Whether you’re a gal or a guy, flowers are always nice. They brighten up the place and just say to your someone ‘I’m thinking about you’

Have you and your significant other got a few songs that remind you of each other? Put them in a playlist and cook a special meal. Take a trip down memory lane and remember where you were for each song.

We know it’s cliché but sometimes you just want to tell the world how you feel! Loved up posts on Facebook or Instagram are a quick easy way to keep your partner happy.

Single on Valentines Day?

Girls, if you’re single this Valentines Day, fear not! In recent years, February 14th has been rebranded as ‘Galentines Day’. Why not get a few of you together and go for a Cocktail Making Class? Or arrange a night in with a few chick flicks, popcorn, pizza and copious amounts of wine and prosecco!

Lads, you know what to do. Get down the pub as chances are, a few of your mates in a relationship will be there too trying to escape their other half! Alternatively arrange a lads day. Have a go at Bubble Football or Archery Combat. You’re guaranteed to have a laugh and forget all about your singleton status!

Valentines Day Gift Ideas

Valentines Day doesn’t have to be an expensive affair. A survey by Bloom and Wild showed that over half of Brits spend less than £10.00 on Valentines Gifts. There are lots of simple ideas that won’t cost the earth but will put you in the good books!

  1. Date Night Jar – Start as you mean to go on. Fill a jar with 12 different date night ideas that you can both pick from each month. They could be anything from cinema to a Spa day as long as it’s something you can do together.
  2. Photo Collage – There are plenty of places online where you can get free photos and just pay postage. Collect your favourite photos of the two of you and put them together in a frame or a photo album.
  3. Buy your own gift! – You might decide that you would rather treat yourself to save your partner the trouble. As long as all your bills are paid and you can afford it, set yourselves a limit and both buy yourselves something you’ve had your eye on!

Valentine Day isn’t just for the loved up people in the world. If you have someone that means a lot to you whether it be your partner, your friend or even your parents, it’s the perfect time to express how much you care!
